Though we’re known today as the Motion Picture and Television Fund, in the beginning we were the Motion Picture Relief Fund – evolving with the industry itself through revolutions like color TV, analog to digital, and streaming. During our 50th year on July 27, 1971, we officially adopted “Television” as part of our name, and it’s a word at the core of our existence every day.
We’ve seen a lot of game changers over the years with recipients of care and supporters alike hailing from some of your favorite TV shows. During the pandemic we joined forces with many companies to distribute much-needed funds to workers in need, as well as providing meals to impacted industry members and frontline staff. In September of 2021 with the Emmys and our annual Evening Before party honoring the past year’s achievements in the format’s many incarnations, we say thank you to our TV family everywhere for all you do.
