From May, 2025: This month we have two reasons to celebrate, with National Nurses Month and Teacher Appreciation Month. During the latter we honor educators of all kinds who share their knowledge, encourage growth, and contribute to teach about the skills we need to thrive. Our campus is full of educational opportunities for staff and residents alike ranging from art classes to first aid to our Grey Quill Society, with multiple generations sharing with each other in countless ways.
One special new development here when it comes to teaching is our CNA course, an opportunity for individuals to obtain the essential requirements to become a certified nursing assistant in California. As our Director of Residential Living, Lorena Soria, explains, “the course entails 60 theory hours and 100 clinical hours; once this is completed, the individual is eligible to register for the state exam. In addition, all candidates who go through our program can work here at MPTF as a CNA.” Linda Healy, our Chief Nursing Officer, adds that we provide “this opportunity to MPTF staff who are interested in a career in healthcare; our recent graduates were previously members of the Hospitality department. The CNA school is one of the ways MPTF is addressing a nationwide staffing shortage in order to provide the best care for our residents.” Click here to find out about nursing job opportunities here at MPTF, click here to read about our Skilled Nursing Facility, and click here to read more about care on our campus.
