An audience favorite at Sundance earlier this year, the touching action-comedy Thelma from Magnolia Pictures rode its now-iconic scooter into theaters on June 21, 2024 and has proven to be a box office smash as well. The indie film marks the first leading role for 94-year-old June Squibb, an Oscar® nominee for Nebraska and a participant in our 2023 KTLA telethon. A substantial part of the film was shot right here on MPTF’s Wasserman Campus! On June 15, we had a homecoming as the Thelma crew returned here for a Q& A and screening featuring June, star Fred Hechinger, director-writer-editor Josh Margolin, and producers Zoë Worth, Chris Kaye, and Benjamin Simpson.
