On Wednesday, November 20 at the Louis B. Mayer Theater on our Wasserman Campus, we’re very happy to be holding a screening of a moving new documentary film,
The Last Journey. Sweden’s official selection for Best International Film for the upcoming 97
th Academy Awards and the highest-grossing documentary in the country’s history. This original and tender experience is written and directed by filmmakers, journalists, TV hosts, authors, and best friends
Filip Hammar and
Fredrik Wikingsson. It explores life, death, and a son’s desperate attempt to reinvigorate his aging father as they embark on a life-affirming, funny, and heartbreaking road trip through the south of France.
“We wanted to reach a larger audience as the story, we feel, is universal,” say the filmmakers. As Filip puts it about bringing the film here, “I love that MPTF’s motto is ‘taking care of our own,’ an idea that fits so well with how our film looks at the different stages of life and how we deal with all that comes with it. I know my life was changed by making this film, and we all can’t wait to share it with a special audience at such a wonderful place. See you there!”
