Work Stoppage 2023
MPTF administers several emergency relief funds that provide financial assistance to eligible industry members who have been impacted by the work stoppages. Through its existing programming and services, MPTF has its own charitable financial assistance program for industry members not eligible for these other emergency relief funds, and additionally provides other services and programs to all eligible industry members.
TEAMSTERS MOTION PICTURE DIVISION FINANCIAL SUPPORT FUND
On June 24, 2023, the Teamsters General Executive Board approved the release of up to $2 Million in financial aid to assist Teamster Members part of the Motion Picture & Theatrical Trade Division that have been impacted by the industry slowdown since the onset of 2023, as well as the WGA strike which began on May 1st, 2023. This fund is NOT available to Local Union staff.
Directors Guild Foundation Emergency Relief Fund
On June 28 the Directors Guild Founda?on (DGF) announced the creation of the DGA Emergency Relief Fund to aid members facing financial crisis. Although the Directors Guild of America has voted to ra?fy a new labor contract with the Alliance of Mo?on Picture and Television Producers, entertainment industry workers in film, television and commercial produc?ons remain impacted by the current writer’s strike. The Trustees of the DGF voted unanimously to establish a separate emergency relief fund. The new Fund will support members of the DGA affected by the shutdowns with $1,000 financial relief grants. The Emergency Relief Fund grants will exist alongside the Founda?on’s longstanding interest-free loan program that offers aid to members experiencing financial hardships and emergencies.
Local 44 Relief Fund
On July 14, 2023, the Local 44 Executive Board approved the release of a quarter of a million dollars to support Local 44 members that have been impacted by the industry slowdown since the onset of 2023, as well as the WGA strike which began on May 1st, and the SAG-AFTRA strike which began on July 14, 2023. This fund is NOT available to Local Union staff.
Local 695 Relief Fund
In July 2023, the Local 695 Executive Board approved the release of a quarter of a million dollars to support Local 695 members that have been impacted by the industry slowdown since the onset of 2023, as well as the WGA strike which began on May 1st, and the SAG-AFTRA strike which began on July 14, 2023. This fund is NOT available to Local Union staff.
LIUNA! Local 724 Support Fund
On August 1, 2023, the LIUNA! General Executive Board along with the Southern California District Council of Laborers and its affiliates approved up to $500k in financial aid to assist LIUNA! Local 724 Members that have been impacted by the industry slowdown since the onset of 2023, as well as the WGA strike which began on May 1st, 2023. This fund is NOT available to Local Union staff.
