“Everything Melody Sherwoodjust fell into place,” Harvey Goldenbergsaid character actor Harvey Goldenberg of the process of moving onto the MPTF campus this summer. “I just fell in love with the place, and the people are so nice. I was in the same place for 36 years, and it’s like taking a great trip here. We’re going on a big breakfast outing with the men’s group here, plus coffee and cake in the morning and bingo in the afternoon. I have $22 more than when I came here!” Fond of slipping quotes from Funny Girl into conversation, Harvey confides, “One of my friends said, ‘You’re the least actor-ish actor.’ I loved it so much that when I didn’t work, it was like working. And when I did work, it was like vacation.” Now Harvey’s settled in and says of his new home, “What’s not to love? Some people resist it, but I don’t understand it. You’re in a place where people want to live. You let them. And that’s what makes me happy.”

Recently profiled in our newest annual report for her years of incredible ongoing work volunteering with The Daily Call Sheet, Melody Sherwood, onetime secretary to studio mogul and legendary MPTF philanthropist Lew Wasserman, also just moved into a cottage here and now calls MPTF home. Melody first found out about us a few years into her time with the Wassermans, and her mother lived in MPTF long-term care for eight years. “I actually put my name on the list the moment I turned 70,” she recalls, “and now ten years later, I decided to call and say move me to the active list. I was living in Palm Desert at the time and got a call to see which accommodation I would like. It’s important to be around people in a place where there’s really only one degree of separation. I feel I’ve made some lovely connections here and met some wonderful people. Plus, I’m a big movie fan, so it’s nice to just step out and walk right over to the theater or an open-air concert. I didn’t think there was so much here!”  To join Harvey and Melody and find out more about living on the MPTF campus, click here to find out more.
